Polyguard RD-6 is a non-shielding external pipeline coating designed to protect buried and submerged steel pipe from corrosion. Its polymer-modified coating layer is bonded to a tightly woven polypropylene geotextile backing that provides high strength, low elongation, and resistance to soil stress.

The non-shielding construction allows cathodic-protection current to reach the pipe if disbondment occurs. RD-6 requires no curing, permits immediate backfilling, and can be applied to line-pipe rehabilitation, new-construction girth welds, bends, and irregular shapes.

Important Application Information

• Above-ground installations require Polyguard UV Overcoat for protection from ultraviolet exposure.

• Use RD-6 HT instead of RD-6 for pipeline operating temperatures above 145°F.
