Avesta 308L TIG Rod is a high-alloy, corrosion-resistant filler metal designed for welding austenitic stainless steels such as 19 Cr 10 Ni and similar grades. It is also suitable for welding titanium-stabilized and niobium-stabilized steels like ASTM 321 and ASTM 347 when service temperatures will not exceed 400°C. For applications above this temperature, a niobium-stabilized consumable such as Avesta 347/MVNb is recommended.
Avesta 308L offers a stable austenitic structure containing 5–10% ferrite and provides strong resistance to scaling up to approximately 850°C in air. Its corrosion performance is comparable to ASTM 304, making it reliable under demanding oxidizing conditions and cold, dilute reducing acids. This rod is also available in a high-silicon version (308L-Si/MVR-Si), which offers improved fluidity, reduced spatter, and enhanced weld bead appearance.
